New Arrivals #190
18 June 2004

Beloved Customers and Friends:

We're gonna keep the intro short this time in the interest of getting this sucker sent out. We've all been running around like crazy working on finishing up the list, as Allan is out of town (for two weeks!) and we're having an instore in about 2 hours! Yikes.

Just a couple quick notes. AQ pal Matt Waldron, who some of you may remember from his breathtaking art show here at the store last year, or from his music making under the name irr. app. (ext.), now has a fully functionng and totally amazing website. check it out here:
irr. app. (ext.)

Also, we are proud to announce we will be hosting an acoustic instore by Califone. Should be really great so don't miss it. It's next Tuesday at 6:30. We'll send out another announcement to remind you.

So what do we have in store for you this time? This list is just bursting at the seams! Tons of new stuff and a handful of re-issues, restocks and re-discoveries. Record of the week is one of the weirdest coolest electronic pop records we've ever heard, a lost Swedish gem from 1971 only now seeing a wide release (wide as in 500 copies!). Highlights include lost music from the Dawn Of The Dead, Beatles-esque stoner pop from Elope, an epic new post rock masterpiece from Finland's Magyar Posse, a mesmerising new release (a soundtrack!) from the Necks, a perfect pop solo record from AC Newman, frontman of the New Pornographers and the late great Zumpano, a QUADRUPLE cd from minimal electronic duo Pan Sonic, some filthy grungy space psych from the Plastic Crimewave Sound, an amazingly bizarre and beatiful lost prog classic from David Pritchard, a new record of stunning solo guitar from Pelt's Jack Rose, a fierce collection of early eighties hardcore, three Brian Eno reissues and so much more!!! Phew.

Make sure and check the end of the list for details about the Califone instore as well as lots of upcoming show info: Jewelled Antler, Jack Rose, Cheval De Frise, and DMBQ still on tour!

As always, thanks to everyone who shops at our store or orders records from us online. We work really hard on this list and buying your records from us means a lot and makes all the differnce in the world to a little store like ours. Also thanks to everyone who turns us on to great new music, -makes- amazing music and helps keep independent / underground music thriving!
Please feel free to forward this list to anyone you might think would enjoy it.

OK then, here we go...
