IMPORTANT (Please read to avoid confusion):
Some items below may be tagged with a bold, red, all-caps "out of print/unavailable" notice. This does NOT mean that all other items not so tagged are, in fact, in stock -- or for that matter, in print and available, though there's a good chance they are. Some folks get confused on this point, and we can see why, so please read this for further clarification and other important before-you-order information. Unlike some mailorder websites, we don't have an electronic inventory system linked to our site, so you can't be sure of what we actually have or don't have in stock at any given moment without asking us -- please email our mailorder department for availability status -- or better yet, just go ahead and place your order using our shopping cart function and we'll get back to you with the status of each item. If you have general non-mailorder questions, email the store.

album cover SUPERCHUNK Here's To Shutting Up (Merge) cd 14.98
Marking Merge Records' 201st release is Superchunk's eighth full length. And a splendid one it is. Mac, Laura, Jim and Jon have crafted a glowingly polished pop album with all pieces falling gracefully into place. A smooth, lush progression from their last release "Come Pick Me Up" in part due to the return of Jim O'Rourke in the co-producer's seat next to Mac. Certainly eons from their youthful frantic pop power anthems ("Slack Motherfucker" anyone?), but with age comes wisdom, focus and beauty. And Superchunk are positively brimming. From the bittersweet opener "Late-Century Dream" to the sweeping twang of "Phone Sex" to the more fired-up spin of "Art Class (Song For Yayoi Kusama)", this is their most accessible release to date. Oddly enough the normally young-sounding Mac has never sounded more so. Recorded at Zero Return Studios in Georgia -- homebase of Man Or Astro-Man?.
