Josh of The (Fucking) Champs sez,
"Whatcha got here is a Japanese reissue of the famous '62 slab board strat. A big slab of rosewood instead of the thinner veneer. Most of the Japanese bodies are basswood, a thoroughly inappropriate and decidedly snap-free wood for a stratocaster. The sunbursts were alder though, which is a proper wood. I never really liked sunbursts though, but fortunately for us, this guy bought a 'burst and took the trouble to sand it down, paint it olympic white, and apply a nice, thin coating of nitrocellulose -- a much toneyer finish than the modern day clear coat polyurethane. How can you breathe under poly? Plus a new bone nut and 6100 fret wire -- always the weak links in the otherwise near-perfect luthiership chain of the Japanese electrical spanish axe makers."
